Black Locust

  1. hi. I'm doing a project on the Black Locust tree....I need to identify an species of trees that it could be confused with or mistaken for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Both the flowers and sometimes the leaves of the locust look a lot like the Wisteria. The Wisteria grows as a vine and a tree. Sometimes people plant them beside a tree so they climb it and it looks like a tree. I found a picture of a Golden Currant [ribes aureum]in a book that looked like the Locust but after serching google I could not find another that looked like the one in the book. Any Robinia [hispida]looks alike but again it is a vine. Cassia [bicopsularis, hebecarpa] www.gardenweb.com, had good pictures. Sorry if this dosen't help. Good luck. April
