We have recently purchased property in Chilliwack, a beautiful Blue spruce (12 - 15 ft tall)(yes it is very nice and blue) occupies one corner of the lot.
The lower 4 ft consisted of a mess of dead branches due to light being blocked out by other plants. We removed the crowding plants and cut off the dead branches from the spruce, to tidy things up and let some light in. All was well till now, as I alarmingly noticed that the lower branches have developed a lot of yellow needles, the ends of the branches are still a nice blue but closer to the trunk ( probably a 2ft circumference of the trunk) they are all yellow! Perhaps I should note that I have also "hidden" my composter, the black plastic type behind the tree.
Yikes is my tree dying? Help.
