My weeping willows are in desperate need of pruning.

Did I miss the boat for pruning them last fall or can they still be pruned now?

If you are talking about cutting them back severely, to grow back from trunks or even stumps near the ground end of winter is the preferred time - you are probably right on schedule.

I wouldn't hard prune willows in fall.

If you're hiring someone to climb the tree and prune it, my only concern has always been to do it before leaf-out, but in our case that's partly because we have wires involved and I'm concerned for the safety of the work crew and their ability to see what they are doing. Barring that concern, I do not hesitate to cut anything that needs to go off my willows at any time of year. I'd actually suspect you might get less rebound sprouting if you do it into and through spring and summer.
