Last year we bought a cherry tree, one of those trees that has several different types of cherry growing on one tree. Near the end of the summer the tree looked to be in some distress, some of the leaves were withering and curling, with little white clusters of a webby / powdery substance on the underside of some of the leaves. I was advised by an gardening store in-house expert that the tree was infested with LEAF ROLLERS, and to spray BTK when the tree sprouted this spring. I was also advised to inform the garden centre where we purchased the tree of the problem, and potentially ask for a replacement tree. However, I wanted to see if we could sort out the problem, seems a shame to waste a 5ft tree.

So this weekend, the buds started to pop on the cherry tree, I sprayed with BTK solution. While spraying I noticed that the tree also has clusters of tiny green /yellow coloured aphid type critters. There are also a few bright red ones.

After reading various threads I am going to try an oil based spray.

    So my questions are:

    - Does anyone know what these tiny green and red aphids might be?
    - Should I be doing anything other than oil spray?
    - Any other advice or suggestions?

    Thanks very much!
