I found 7 of these things in my garden a few weeks back. Underneath plants, and attached to a stem or branch. I have never seen one, and I have been gardening here in Maple Ridge, New Westminster, and before that, Vancouver Island, for a total of 30 years. I have posted this picture on many forums and no one has yet to ID these guys. They are about 3" in length. ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE?

Possibly a form of these critters?

    Tomato / tobacco hornworms
