I'd like to know what people think about growing Bamboo as an alternative building material. In particular, training it to grow into specific shapes.

I know that some have already created experimental bicycles by cultivating bamboo as an alternative to traditional alloy tubing. I'm intrigued by the idea of using the least amount of processing possible. For the types of uses I envision, the Bamboo would be grown into a sheet of material, ready for the next step of manufacturing.

Do you think this is feasible? If so, what breeds of Bamboo would be most well suited for experimentation?
