Upsidedown-tear-shaped, tentacled seed pod

    I found this peculiar plant in a wintry field in southwest Michigan, hanging about 2-3 feet high from a brown stem attached to the top or 3/4 up on the pod. The pod measured top to bottom about the length of my index finger.

    Any ideas?
