These are photos of a 5-6' specimen I recently obtained in full leaf. It is truly a good example of a changeful tree, with different areas of the tree displaying various shade of red, green, and white.

A relatively new introduction into the trade, Will D is a very pendulous veriegate with pretty strong reticulation. The specimen I have has been staked with a stong leader and it has uniform short pendulous side-branching the length of the trunk. At the top, above the stake, the leader is now bending toward one side and if not staked further, this tree will form a large shrub or somewhat of a mound.

So far, it seems like a strong introduction with some uniqueness, especially in color. All photos were taken the second week of April 2005 and in-person, the red/purple tones have somewhat of a brown or mauve appearance. It is nice, although from a distance, the tree seems to dissappear.

Great cv, crummy name. How about a new name for this plant?

I have merged the threads. Lets try to keep one thread for each maple cultivar in the Maple Photo Gallery.

It took quite a while, but I finally have some summer growth on this plant. I suspect it is not one to grow vigorously in summer, but a few chutes are better than none. I love the variety in appearance of summer foliage on veriegated and reticulated plants--you just never know what it will look like.

These photos are from today, 08/14/05 and the new leaves are about a week old.

    Enjoy! MJH.

Here are some photos to preceed what I provided last year. My opinion still stands that this is a strong introduction and a plant that offers good colors and pleasing form. It seems to show strong flower prodcution as well as coloration that makes me wonder what the partent tree was for this plant.

There is another plant being sold as Will's Devine that causes me to wonder if it indeed does have another name, but at this time, I do not know.

My understanding is that Will D and Will's Devine are the same plant- another case of renaming.

    Thanks Terry.

That really sends me over the edge when a plant has not been around in the retail trade for long and people are screwing with the name and changing it back and forth. If the plant is going to be released it should have a set name and that is that.

Same tree in the shade. Look at the color difference. I like the shade pics better.

I wonder if this one is the same as 'Will's Devine'? Should I make a new post?

I believe it is D. Hence no postings for several years. Posting #10 raises this point.
Do you have Will D or Wills Devine. I have the latter btw.
