Daniel I am not sure where to put this. Please feel free to move it. I have just read this on a UK web forum. Quote "Steve Lucas passed away today Steve Lucas of Exotic Rainforrest passed away early this morning. He was an avid aroid personality and will be missed by us all. Robert Chumley" This is a sad loss especially for his family and friends, but also the many people all over the globe who he has helped over the years. He was so very enthusiastic and generous with his time, spreading the word of how to care for and accurately id Aroids.
Very sad to hear this. He was an enthusiastic advocate for plants, and I will remember him most for his tenacity in trying to get to the bottom of names / species identifications / cultivated origins of plants. Here is a posting on the Aroid-L listserv for those who would like learn a bit more: [Aroid-L] Steve Lucas Zach D. posted a note from the family: Missouri Botanical Garden Tribute and Memorial Gift Program
"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."---Kahlil Gibran Oh, how I will miss this great man!
Hard to say anything. It just crossed my mind that a special human being is like a plant cultivar, unfortunately grafting is not possible
Here is the link to the funeral home site. There is an online guestbook where condolences may be written. Click on 'Obituaries' (second entry in list to left) and then on 'Lucas, Mr. Royal'. http://www.backstrom-pyeatte.com/
