My linden tree has been dying this past three years, the canopy gradually getting less. This year the leaves were tiny and dry looking. There is much scale on the tree this year. We have had, past few years, sooty aphid. Is it too late to pollard and save this enormous tree which gives shade to my two garden rooms, devoted to shade-loving plants? Jennifer
aphids are followed by sooty mold. what is the climate like where this tree is growing? are the summers too dry? lack of nutrients (test soil to find out whats there) not enough drainage in winter? pollarding is not an option to invigorate a tree. find out whats not right, if it can be corrected, thats your answer.
Decapitation would add an additional trauma, the tree drawing on stored nutrients in an attempt to replace the lost branches.
hello, my linden tree has some problems and I don't know what to do to help. It's not so big , about three meter high, and the leafs are eaten by something. Can someone give me an advice. here are some pics with a leaf, that is just starting to be attacked, others are very badly eaten. http://www.swooms.com/tei/frunza-tei.jpg http://www.swooms.com/tei/frunza-tei1.jpg thanks in advance
