I have two small unknown plants (A & B) in my Dorset, England garden. Is anyone able to identify what they might be?
Welcome 1judith1. 1. Looks like a Pulmonaria. Common name lungwort. There are many different named cultivars. The flowers can come in white, pink, red or blue. Most have leaves with spots on, others have plain unmarked leaves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulmonaria. http://images.google.co.uk/images?u...nG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&start=0 2. ?
2. Could be a Horsetail (Equisetum sp.) - do you have a photo in-situ? Is it only growing in the wetter areas of the garden?
Structure of the stalk wrong for Equisetum grown in UK http://www.plant-identification.co.uk/images/equisetaceae/equisetum-arvense-1.jpg http://www.plant-identification.co.uk/skye/equisetaceae/equisetum-arvense.htm I was wondering about the annual Cosmos bipinnatus, but am not sure. http://galeriefoto.gradina-botanica.ro/admin/_files/photogallery/mare_Cosmos-bipinnatus.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmos_bipinnatus
The clasping petioles make me think it's in the Umbelliferae. Seeing the rest of the plant would probably make the ID much simpler.
