    Re: fire pyrocanthus

Foliage on our pyrocantha is becoming sparse. What's the most effective way to get denser foliage? Pruning? When? Nutrients? What kind?

We live in Tucson, AZ and summertime temperatures of over 100 F for weeks at a time are not uncommon. Under these conditions, even mature pyrocantha require some watering. But over-watering can result in killing the shrub and the balance is difficult to achieve. Appearance of yellow leaves appears to be symptomatic of BOTH over-watering and under-watering. Any thoughts on how to strike a balance?
