I just got some tulip bulbs in the mail.
They look okay but they are all a bit spongey.
Are they ok or should I contact the company and
    send them back?

Should be firm, with unblemished surfaces. Moldy is definitely out.

Yeah - they're close to rotting!

    : O

Definitely send them back. Sad that they would mail a customer such sorry bulbs!

P.S. Try to buy them from your local greenhouse, so you can see them and touch them - this way you'll know what you're getting. If they are a tad bit soft or spongey - leave them there!

    Good luck.

Definatly firm. Sounds like they are older than last season!!

This is our local growers in the next valley about to start their spring festival. The Daffodils up the road are coming to an end.
