    Hi all!

let me explain my case: last week I was in Amsterdam for a leisure trip, and for those of you who wanna know, there's a famous flower and plant market on the street everyday. At that place, as a curiosity I bought a (it said so) palm tree seed, shaped like a brain, but small and dry.

The instructions said it to be set in water until the first sprout appears. I had stupid doubts like "salt water?" and so, so I started searching on the net. To my surprise, it seems no only it's not a palmtree seed, but also that it's a poisonous tree from India, called the "suicide or homicide tree" because the kernel contains don't know what that can causes heart beat stop!!! I deduced that because the images of the seeds I've seen on the net are exactly like the one I've got here.

It's just that I seems unbelivable that such plants are sold so "freely". so I'd really like to make sure of the plant I'm about to grow.

I recall the pannel at the plant shop said something like "Budha Palm".

Could someone, with the few information I give, confirm if such palm tree exists or if I simply was swindled??

    Thank you all !!

    Hi FerMont,

Dypsis bejofo is called the Brain Seed Palm. That may be what you have. There's not a whole lot of info about it as it's a rare palm that is just becoming popular.

There are other varieties of Dypsis as well but I know nothing about them or their seeds.

You might want to ask these folks if they can help to id your seed. It would be helpful if you have a picture too.
