I planted a new Ventura Maple at my Calgary home last summer. It showed new growth during July and August but has not shown any new buds this spring. There is evidence of a small crack 1/3 way up the trunk and still no sign of life on the branches an limbs. The tree is still green when the bark is peeled back an 2 new shoots just appeard at the base. Is there hope for this young maple, any suggestions for nursing it back to health? Thanks, Noel
for me inside your maple there is one lepidoter (a little caterpillar)is common (in my area) prune under the crack and if possible send a pics, also is possible used a dedicate pesticide is one spray after close the crack and prune the principal branch ,use liquid fertilize and good luck!alex
only solution prune under the crack if you look that the branch is bronw , maple no life if is green you have 50% possibility that your maple survive ...alex
