I've had to pot up my two-year-old olive tree due to a move, but cannot bring it with me to my next place. A plan to store it fell through, but my brother offered to store it on his patio. My concern with this is that it might freeze the roots if kept in a pot (he lives in Newton). Any suggestions? Any way to insulate the pot to keep the frost off? Or will it be better to dig a hole and plop the pot in? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm thinking that the roots will be kept warmer in the ground than out of it.
