I have added a photo of a fungus that is growing out of a stump. This stump use to be an oak tree. Can anyone name this fungus for me.
    Thank you so much,

    Janet

Looks like a Laetiporus species, and I'd pay $5 for that in 24 hours after it matures a little bit more.

This fungus is starting to turn white around the edges. Is this poisonous?

    Is this called Laetiporus sulphureus?

Too early for me to go on the record as to whether it is L sulfureus or L. cincinnatus. Unless yours is growing on hemlock, it is <probably> edible.

It's growing on a oak stump

I run the library at Ponderosa Elem School in Paradise California and I am always bringing in things to share with students I just have to have the right info on what kind the fungus is.
