A friend is offering some Black Bamboo from her yard. I plan to use a Sawsall to help remove a clump. She has not kept it well irrigated, therefore it is not in great shape. She also mentioned it has spider mites. Should I avoid this offer and look for a healthy plant in a nursery? Is it common for Bamboo to get spider mites? Is it easy to be rid of them?

They might be bamboo mites. The bamboo mites are very difficult to eradicate.
