Some type of fir tree grew in garden after mulching with cedar. Lost all needles last winter and grew back new ones like a pinion tree. Needles are very stiff with
many very sharp thorns inbeded in them, needles are a silver blue like a Blue Spruce. What is it? Should it be permenetly planted as a tree or as a bush?

I can't do a pic., but every mature needle is as sharp as a thorn.
