I have a healthy 5 yo meyer lemon, which I need to repot. It is currently in potting soil and is doing very well. After reading many posts, I found that it's best in chc. It is not readily available here and a bit expensive to order. I came across some miracle gro citrus/cactus potting soil. Is this any good?? What about pine bark or mulch? It is currently in a 14" pot. How much larger should I go?

You can use pine bark as an alternative to CHC. The main difference between pine bark and CHC is the length of time before it degrades and needs to be replaced. Pine bark normally lasts 1-2 years, and CHC up to 5 years. A good mixture using pine bark is 3 parts 1/2" -3/4" pine bark, 1 part peat moss, and 1 part coarse sand. Transplant into a container that is 2-3 inches larger than the container that the tree is currently in. Take care, and good luck. - Millet (1,339-)
