Planting a Dwarf Cherry Tree?

    Hi,

    I would like to plant my potted cherry tree next to a building with a concrete slab, are the roots invasive?

    If on 'Gisela' that may keep it from becoming troublesome. I don't know how large this rootstock becomes in time. Presumably it dwarfs the scion (top) by being somewhat feeble itself, in the manner of fully dwarfing rootstocks for apple trees. An orchardist reading this might know.

    Don't know what kind of rootstalk is used for a dwarf cherry, but the ornamental cherries here have roots quite close to the surface and suckers from the roots are a problem. Suckers coming up 1 1/2 times the distance from the trunk, as the tree is high. Think it might be best to keep it further away than 3' from a slab or have a barrier preventing the roots from growing under the slab.
