They said it was a bamboo

    Some time ago my wife was given this plant while visiting Indonesia and she has kept it indoors since then.

    It has just been producing these lovely flowers with a strong fragrance that fade within 24 hours. It clearly isn't bamboo, which is how it was described to her.

    Can someone identify it please? Thank you.

    Appears to be a Dracaena, possibly D. surculosa aka D. godseffiana. It's also known as Japanese Bamboo.

    Thanks Ginger Blue, you seem to have nailed it with Dracaena surculosa. Using your tip for a search I note that most others have a more distinctive mottling effect on the leaves, probably ours is lacking something in the soil, but it seems healthy. Thanks again.
