Do strawberries need pollination to have fruit?
I am asking this because the squirrels in our backyard don't share strawberries with us. They bite on almost all, eat some and take away the rest. So I thought of enclosing the small patch in some improvised clear plastic small greenhouse.

    Howdy,
Yes, strawberries must be pollinated. Enclosing them with chicken wire will allow pollinating insects to get in while at the same time keep the squirrels out. Under plastic, you will have to lift the sides up for the insects and that can defeat your aim.
