    Hello,

These are the leaves of a tall (~50 ft) tree growing in my neighborhood near Alexandria VA. Does anyone know what it is?

    shiny leaves, ~5-10 cm long
green oblong berries gradually turning purple

    Thanks for any clues!

Third vote. Handsome ornamental, perhaps the best shade tree for red fall color.
