help identify this aggressive bugger!

    I live in southern ontario. my home backs onto a what the builders like to call a "ravine" but in reality it is just a storm runoff corridor.
    Beyond my fence is this large tree or shrub that year after year is increasing its footprint.
    I would not care about the expansion because it does provide privacy and shade however on a WEEKLY basis i am pulling countless 'newbies' that are trying to establish themselves in my lawn....very aggressive, very fast growing and UNSTOPPABLE! lol
    It never flowers (that i can see) and the stand in the ravine is about 18ft high!

    looks like a willow (Salix).

    hmm, you may be right...but it acts so much like a weed in that it propagates itself everywhere....and they grow very quickly!
