Identification: need help identifying this creature

    can someone help identify this? it started growing on a trunk I use as a large pot. In few months it got to a reasonable size. kids in the neighborhood wants me to lick it.

    so what is-it? a fungus? a mushroom? the yellow color is natural.

    Might be a mycomycete (slime mold). Protozoanlike or amoebalike organisms converge to produce a a sort of colonial spore-producing structure.

    looks like a mycomycete grex to me.
