the weird and wonderful?

    saw this at the botanical gardens and out of all places they didn't have a label lol
    the leaves are very inconspicuous , a multi brached bush the branches are pure silver in colour like somone had spraypainted it looks artifical. Luckily there were fruits on the plant the fruits are so hard that we needed a knife to cut it open ( imagine a watermelon skin ) the inside is a fleshy fruit with many seeds like a kiwifruit. Any ideas what it may be?

    This looks like one of the Southern African species of Gardenia,, possibly G. thunbergia.

    Yes i believe so thank you this plant was located in the African area i would never have guessed a Gardenia
