Will grapes grow on wooden fence?

I have a concord grape plant, and would like to know if planted along a 6' wood fence.
Would any additional support be needed to train the vine?

As far as I know grapes need something to cling to such as wires or mesh. Probably need to make sure it gets sun on the fence as well. That is it is not always on the shade side of the fence. Maybe you could run it along the top if that is the case.

The grape will grow on the fence without the need to add any structure. While the vine will seek the sunniest exposure, some bunches may be shaded by fence parts. If you are thinning the fruit before veraison (first color changes), cut these bunches first. I suspect appearance is your primary goal, so even this less than ideal growth environment (from a viticultural perspective) will give you satisfactory results.
