I have grown an Avocado plant from the seed or pit inside an Avocado fruit, and it is now about five feet tall, with large well developed leaves and healthy stem. It stays inside in the winter (in a well lit area) and outside in the sunshine when its available.
Questions: Will the plant stand cold weather and will it cope with frost of Vancouver lower mainland areas? Should I keep it in rotation as the weather dictates? It look like it could grow into a tree!

    Thank you.

A few cultivars are reported to be somewhat cold hardy. We tried two here at the garden a few years ago that were supposed to survive to around -10 C. They did not make it through the winter. A seed from store bought fruit is not likely to produce a hardy plant, so I would not recommend putting it outside in this region.
