I am trying to identify the hardiness zone for the following area in France:
Charente Maritime, north of Bordeaux, just inland from the estuary. Although 30 minutes' drive away at the nearest resorts to the north, there are palms, olive trees and sea grasses, I'd like to know if these would grow more inland in soil that is traditionally used to plant sunflowers, wheat and hollyhocks. I would love to add some diversity to what is a rather uniform environment.
Any information would be most welcome!
    Thanking you.

Your area is in zone 8 and possibly 9, according to the hardiness zone maps for Europe listed on this page.

Zone 9 within about 30-40km of the ocean, zone 8 further inland.
