Nice tree. Yes, this is the typical size and crown habit of 'Pandora' (small, with branches stiffly ascending at about 60 degrees). The flowers are usually very soft pink, the petals not overlapping so that you can see the star shape of the calyx lobes between them. 'Pandora' is also comparatively disease free, and is easily propagated from stem cuttings. Why don't we see it more often?

April 15, 2021 in full bloom and this Tai-haku tree is much bigger 9 years later
    DSCN7449.JPG DSCN7450.JPG

I think my single whites don't suit any of these cherries. No smell, no hair, sticky. What it can be?

[edited by wcutler 2012apr12:]Judging by the size of the blossoms (5cm), I think this is 'Tai Haku'. It's at 26 Ave and 158 St.

I decided to add new photos of this tree, two weeks later leaves became green, still some nice looking big flowers(last three photos)

It is again my favourite tree at Gordon Ave & Bay Str. It is in full bloom and looks gorgeous. I am sure it deserves identification! Branches are very high, I couldn't touch or smell flowers. I found at close up pictures the same folded back sepals like on previous post cherry tree. Both trees are near beach, could happen that they bloom a little bit ahead of other the same trees.

These both look like sweet cherry, Prunus avium. We don't consider it an ornamental, but those are nice looking. There are lots of avium cultivars too - those are the eating cherries. It was the folded-back sepals that indicate that. I saw one today, thought I'd better hurry and tell people, but White Rock is ahead of the West End, so you beat me to it.

Our book has P. avium 'Plena', a double-blossomed cultivar that does not produce fruit. Old trees are about the size and shape of your first one.

I replied there that I think it's 'Tai Haku'. You included the scale and everything, and it just didn't hit me how large the flowers are.
