I am curious about the grove of five or seven elm trees at Beach Avenue and about Bidwell -- on the False Creek seawall. These trees are draped in thousands of Christmas lights every year, it is truly spectacular. I am just curious what species of elm these are? I have referred to "Trees of Vancouver" by Straley, but this group is not mentioned.

    Thanks for any help!

Have you tried contacting the Vancouver
Park Board? They would have record of all plantings in public areas.

Here's a photo of the trees

Thanks for your help -- I don't know how to contact the tree registry people. Do you know if there an e-mail or web page for help on this?

    Here's a photo.

In the Blue pages at the back of the phone book, under Vancouver... Trees on public property you will find the number, which is 604 257 8600.
They will want to know the block number .
    Good luck!
