Rosa × odorata 'Mutabilis'
Rosa × odorata 'Mutabilis' (Rosaceae) is a recurrent-blooming China rose with ever-changing flowers.
Deep vermilion buds open a light buff-yellow then change to coppery pink and finally darken to deep crimson. From early summer until frost, flowers of different stages are present on the plant at the same time. The disease-free, glossy green leaves are tinged with red. Usually grown as a shrub, 'Mutabilis' will climb to 3 m with support and is somewhat shade-tolerant. The cultivar has been known since Victorian times under a variety of names, and is now understood to be a Rosa chinensis × Rosa gigantea cross.
