Basketry Workshop - Honeysuckle Rib Basket (Course)

Course Details The 'Honeysuckle Rib' basket is a traditional European style basket used for centuries as a household gathering and storage basket. This version, taught by Joan Carrigan, will have a honeysuckle vine handle giving it an organic shape. Participants will be offered a variety of natural materials and colourful dyed reed to incorporate into their basket, and will learn about the gathering and preparation of these materials. This workshop is suitable for beginners.  

Instructor Joan Carrigan discovered basketry in 1991 and has since studied with many outstanding basket makers. She has acquired a broad-based knowledge of basketry techniques and materials and has taught extensively. Her work has been exhibited internationally.  

Location At the Botanical Garden Pavilion, near the Food Garden. (Directions to the Botanical Garden)  

Class Size 15 people maximum

Please Note Advance registration required. Participants should bring sturdy scissors, old towel, spray bottle and awl.
