Acer campbellii
In the David C. Lam Asian Garden, an Acer campbellii (Campbell maple) is dedicated to the UBC Friends of the Garden in celebration of their 25th anniversary (2001).
Acer campbellii (Sapindaceae) is native to the Himalayas from Nepal east to Yunnan, China. The name commemorates Dr. Archibald Campbell (1805-1874), Superintendent of Darjeeling and Political Agent to Sikkim, who accompanied Joseph Dalton Hooker (Director of Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, 1865 to 1885) through Sikkim in 1849.
