What Bloggers Say About UBC Botanical Garden

Category(-ies): Kudos

An Interview about UBC Botanical Garden's Weblogs conducted by Kathryn Brown on The Little Garden weblog. “UBC is the only major botanical garden today to host a blog. Over the past three years, the university has increasingly greeted garden visitors online, to share plant stories, eclectic photos, comments, and more. Why – and how – has UBC taken the lead?”

Amy Stewart, in her weblog Dirt: “We arrived at UBC after yet another long bus ride and trudged through campus. This time, though, I knew we had found the right place... Perhaps the most innovative aspect of the Food Garden was the variety of fruit trees planted in cordons and espaliers. This garden proves that a small amount of space can yield a bountiful harvest... I left the UBC Botanical Garden a better educated, and certainly more homesick, gardener.”

Jane Perrone, in her weblog Horticultural: “The highlight for me had to be the food garden, which inspired me to grow several new things after a previous visit a few years ago... I was particularly impressed with the huge purple kohl rabi, the luxuriously spreading kiwi vines and the juicy cabbages.”

Bob Hyland, in his weblog Inside Plants Live: “A 21st Century Botanical Garden... How progressive! How cool! Have a look!”

Tim Bray, in his weblog Ongoing: “the March blossoms a feast for the eyes and soul; we toured almost all of the Asian garden which features...magnolias, rhododendrons, camellias, and other delights... if you're in or near Vancouver, go visit the garden already.”

Andrea Bellamy, in her weblog Heavy Petal: “One of Vancouver's garden treasures is the UBC Botanical Garden, which makes for a fabulous day of adventure.”
