Grow the most food in the smallest space (with the least work)! Learn how to grow a healthy, bountiful supply of food from your own yard, no matter how small. This course covers soil preparation and organic fertilizers, planting schedules that produce the most from any garden space all year round, what to grow and how to grow it, simply and cheaply, including crops you can grow in planters and pots. Learn how to adapt your gardening methods to suit different weather conditions, simple methods for protecting winter crops during cold snaps and organic methods for preventing and controlling insects, diseases and weeds.
Copies of Linda's new book, Backyard Bounty: The Complete Guide to Year-Round Organic Gardening in the Pacific Northwest will be for sale to participants at a 20% discount.

Instructor: Linda Gilkeson, Entomologist and Author
Linda Gilkeson earned a PhD in Entomology from McGill University. She spent 5 years as the research director of a company rearing beneficial insects, a decade working on pesticide reduction programs for the provincial government, and served as President of the Entomological Society of Canada, the Professional Pest Management Association of BC and the Entomological Society of BC. In 2003, she received the Queen's Jubilee medal for her service to the community and in 2005 received an outstanding achievement award from the Professional Pest Management Association of BC. Linda has written pest management training manuals, organic gardening books and numerous magazine articles. She self-published two books: Year Around Harvest: Winter Gardening on the Coast and West Coast Gardening: Natural Insect, Weed and Disease Control. Her most recent book, Backyard Bounty, has become a BC best seller. Currently, she teaches Master Gardener programs in the province, and gives various workshops and public talks on gardening and pest management.
